Yes, Virginia, there really IS a cotton mill...

... or rather, there WAS a cotton mill. Dundas Ontario was a thriving industrial community in the 1800's, and it's location on Spencer Creek was vital for many milling operations. The Cotton Mill was one of them:





When I started my business in March 1997 I knew the focus would always be on thread, so the "Threadworks" part of the company name was easy. It was only after rummaging around in the local library that I discovered the "Cotton Mill". By that time all that remained of these former buildings was this:



Now even that is gone.

But human experiences remain.  And it was coincidental that, while chatting with fellow quilter Bill, the topic of my business name came up. He told me stories of his mother working in that very same mill - what a small, connected world it is!
