Not just another road trip

Being the Superior Threads Educator for Canada certainly makes life interesting. Last week my threads and I took to the skies on a teaching trip to Fort McMurray, Alberta:

Sue Schellenberg sells (and uses!) thread by Superior in her store - Suzy Q's Quilt Shop. She also wants her customers to become knowledgeable about different threads, and comfortable in using them. Organization and customer service are key factors at Sue's, as we start the day shopping for supplies:

For a nominal fee all the prep work is done for you. Just pick up a binder and you're all set for the Open Thread Bar™!

My home for 3 days was this bright classroom:

just steps away from the shop in case some retail therapy was needed! (If you recognize Heather Stewarts"s "Venetian Puzzle" quilt behind the counter you are correct - she's teaching there in October.)

Star pupil was 9 year old Tyler Schellenberg, who had absolutely no fear of the metallic threads. Way to go, Tyler!

Three days spent with a fantastic group of quilters, and the incredible magic of watching the Northern Lights - it just doesn't get any better. Thanks to Sue and everyone for a wonderful experience!

  • Looks like you had a great experience in Ft. McMurray. I can't wait to get back there and see everyone again.
